Big fish candidate to brave Africa’s extremes to raise money for cancer charity

Hannah Hearn, a Campaign Manager that Big fish found employment for at Wilford-based IT specialists, XMA, will swap the wet British weather for the scorching hot deserts of the Sahara on 23rd February when she takes part in a gruelling 100km trek to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Walking for seven hours each day and camping in the desert every night, Hannah will encounter some of the most extreme and spectacular landscapes on earth during the nine day trip – not to mention the sweltering African heat!

“Being in the Sahara desert will be an adventure I am unlikely to forget,” said Hannah. “It will be one of the toughest things I have ever done but knowing I can make a difference and help people living with cancer makes all my efforts worth it.”

”I’ve been attempting to recreate the sand dunes on the treadmill by walking in my boots on an incline, followed by a combination of swimming, summit training, running and weights to improve my overall stamina and fitness levels. I am most nervous about the conditions in terms of the terrain and weather which can be unpredictable. Once I’m there, there’ll be no turning back!”
